गायत्री मां से ही चारों वेदों की उत्पति मानी जाती हैं। इसलिये वेदों का सार भी गायत्री मंत्र को माना जाता है। मान्यता है कि चारों वेदों का ज्ञान लेने के बाद जिस पुण्य की प्राप्ति होती है अकेले गायत्री मंत्र को समझने मात्र से चारों वेदों का ज्ञान मिलता जाता है। गायत्री मां को हिंदू भारतीय संस्कृति की जन्मदात्री मानते हैं।

Gayatri is believed to be the origin of the four Vedas from the mother. That is why Gayatri Mantra is also considered to be the essence of Vedas. It is believed that the virtue which is attained after taking knowledge of the four Vedas, one gets the knowledge of the four Vedas only by understanding the Gayatri Mantra alone. Gayatri Maa -Hindus consider it to be the birth mother of Indian culture.
